Each day over the October half term, families in Wathamstow can enjoy five different theatre productions and a music workshop for children and young people. From traditional puppetry and storytelling by Ken Haines with Peter and the Wolf to off the wall comedy from Honky Bonk Theatre, there’s something to suit everyone during this jam-packed week.
The Walthamstow Children’s Theatre festival has been created by Hannah Pierce and Alexander Parsonage, and will be celebrating its inaugural year in Mirth, Marvel and Maud, the former EMD Granada cinema, a spectacular Art Deco venue with a restaurant, two bars and live arts spaces the perfect location for young people and adults alike over the autumn break.

When Sara is given a special dress for her birthday she feels powerful and decides that no matter what, she’s never going to take it off! Through imaginative storytelling, Heather invites you on a fabulous journey about fierce independence and accepting that change isn’t as scary as we think!

Peter and the wolf by Ken Haines

The musical story of a mischievous boy called Peter and his friends, the bird, the duck, the cat and how they outwit the sly old wolf in this wonderful musical tale.

Peta studies insects. It’s her thing. But Peta’s world is crumbling and the friend she always turns to has mysteriously disappeared. All alone, Peta sets sail on an adventure. A multi-sensory play about finding light in the darkest places.

Molly and the Owl by the Nick Tomalin Group

Molly and the Owl is an original story with jazz composed by Nick Tomalin member of the award winning E17 Jazz Collective. It concerns a young girl and her strange meeting with a saxophone playing owl. Molly visits an exciting place called Jazzville and has lots of adventures there – but how will she find her way home…? The piece is performed by a live jazz band and aims to introduce the basics of jazz to a young audience in a fun and accessible way.

Captain Cauliflower and Marvin the Mischievous Mouse by Honky Bonk Theatre

Little Maestros Music by Mamfy’s Music Time
Monday 23rd October 12.15 and 2.45pm
Come and join Mamfy sing some songs, meet some puppet and cuddly friends and play some percussion. We might even get our boogy on! Meet the flute and other instruments at this interactive, musical session. Sam has 10 years experience in early years music development and enjoys offering mixed aged sessions for all the family.
Perfect for 0-4 years but all family welcome.
Tickets £7.50 child, £10.50 adult, £25.00 family (based on 1 adult and 3 children)
