Page to Stage: calling directors and actors! (Tues 14 July, London)

July 1, 2015 by Miranda Harrison Leave a Comment

Huge thanks to all the writers who submitted scripts for the July Page to Stage. It was very hard to narrow it down to a final selection of 4 pieces. Now we need 4 top-notch directors and a strong cast!

Page to Stage comprises directed, rehearsed readings of 4 new theatre scripts with feedback from an industry panel. As this is a networking evening, run on a voluntary basis, all roles are unpaid. The event takes place at The Horse & Stables, London SE1 7 RW.

See below for details of the 4 pieces. Applications welcome from all backgrounds.

DIRECTORS
Requirements / time commitment:
– Working in a small space and a limited timeframe, the directors need to be adaptable and imaginative. Showcasing the new writing remains the paramount objective.
– Scripts are sent out in advance. Preliminary planning is encouraged (e.g. contacting cast about clothing, perhaps the odd prop etc.).
– Cast and director meet on the night, with 1½ hours to rehearse.
Submission:
–
Please send a short note outlining relevant theatre experience, along with your biog and CV, weblinks etc. (Your biog will be included in the programme if you are chosen as one of our 4 directors.)
– You are welcome to mention a specific play from the list, but we usually match directors to cast and play by looking at levels of experience, the demands of staging requirements etc. etc.

ACTORS
Requirements / time commitment:
– The event is to showcase new writing: very clear delivery/projection, good characterisation and excellent sight-reading skills are essential.
– Scripts are sent out in advance. Actors should be very familiar with the lines (but not off-book).
– Cast and director meet on the night, with 1½ hours to rehearse.
Submission:
– Please submit your Spotlight link, showreel link and a biog of no more than 75 words, plus any other information relevant to a rehearsed reading. (Your biog will be included in the programme if you are cast.)
– Feel free to state which role(s) you are interested in. Final casting, however, may differ from this.
– Actors confident playing up/down in age are welcome to apply.

Contact details: Please email your submission to Miranda Harrison, Page to Stage Organiser, at london@artists-anonymous.org.

Deadline: Monday 6 July.

M (M) – in his 60s
W (F) – in her 60s

The Empty Chair by Jack Silver
