The Fifth Word Award for most promising Playwright

We’re thrilled to launch The Fifth Word Award for Most Promising Playwright in partnership with Nottingham Playhouse.

 This exciting new award seeks to uncover new playwriting talent from across the East Midlands.  This is a unique partnership between one of the regions leading producing theatres and a new writing touring company and is supported by Arts Council England.

 We are looking for original, compelling pieces written specifically for the stage that have contemporary relevance.  This award is open to early career and first time writers who have had no more than one play professionally produced. The writer must be currently based in the East Midlands.

 The winner of this award will receive: A rehearsed reading of their winning play, A 12-month attachment with Fifth Word, £2000 development money and a go and see theatre budget as well as a mentor to provide dramaturgical support.

 All entries will be read by a panel of industry professionals and special guest judge. The Winner and runners up will be announced on 8thSeptember 2015.

 Submissions are now open and close on the 15th July 2015 

 We accept entries submitted online at http://promising-playwrights.co.uk where you can also find our full guidance notes.
